On 1 April
1907, Hermann Sandvoss founded the company VULCAN, Technische Apparate-Baugesellschaft
mbH in Düsseldorf. In those days, the company employed 30 people
who worked on just 150 square meters (1,600 square feet) producing steam
traps and temperature regulators.
The idea
to use seamless metal tubes as operating elements for temperature regulators
was patented in 1909. This invention formed an important basis for the
success of SAMSON Technische Apparate-Baugesellschaft mbH, which derived
from the VULCAN, Technische Apparatebaugesellschaft mbH in the same year.
In 1916, SAMSON moved to Frankfurt. In 1922, it became a stock company.
The company
continued to develop even through two world wars and times of economic
crisis, evolving into a leading instrumentation and controls company which
specialized in self-operated regulators installed in steam and heating
systems.
In 1953,
SAMSON introduced the first pneumatic valve positioners on the German
market, providing the opening into process automation sector.
Nowadays,
SAMSON is a leading valve manufacturer active in all areas of process
engineering. Thanks to the wide product program ranging from self-operated
regulators to smart positioners, SAMSON is fit for the future.
