Features of the SAMSON Valve Sizing Program

The SAMSON Valve Sizing Program is a software for calculating and sizing control valves. This program calculates the valve-specific data (Kvs value, required nominal valve size, etc.) for up to three cases by means of the process and medium data entered by the user. Afterwards, these data are used to determine a valve which is then suggested by the program. Finally, the sound emission and other operating data are calculated for the selected valve. The software includes many additional user-friendly functions for valve sizing.

  Software features

–  Valve sizing calculation based on EN 60534 for all types of valves
–  Calculation for all self-operated regulators
–  Various noise prediction standards selectable (including SAMSON's own standard)
–  Calculation of positioning forces for sizing actuators
–  Reverse calculations for flow rate and pressure drop across the valve
–  Online unit conversion
–  Online language switchover
–  Data import/export (Access, Excel, DBF)
–  Clear representation of several sized valves in table form
–  Extensive online help on the software and valve sizing

 Update to version 4.7

New features in version 4.7

–  HTML help for Windows Vista
–  Flow divider II
–  Valve characteristic graphs can be included in project documentation
–  New actuator sizes (355 cm² and 1000 cm²)

SAMSON Valve Sizing can only be updated if version 4.5 has been installed on your system from the original CD.

To update the SAMSON Valve Sizing software, use the Update function in the Help menu.

To update older software versions, or in case it is not possible to update the software as described above, please send an e-mail to specifying your current software version.

Please contact your local SAMSON subsidiary to order new software.

  New features in version 4.5

–  Medium database with over 1000 process media
–  Functions to calculate process media in relation to pressure and temperature
–  Automatic assignment of media properties such as density, viscosity, vapor pressure
–  Automatic assignment of enthalpy, flashing data, isentropic exponents and phases
–  Missing data are estimated using approximation equations
–  Valve characteristics measured on the SAMSON test bench are shown in graphs
–  Display of pressure-temperature graphs for valve body material and nominal pressure
–  Search function in the project view, for example, to find a certain tag number
–  Additional units for pressure and flow rate, e.g. MPa and kg/s
–  Field for entering the material of internal parts
–  Sound pressure calculation for liquids using new EN 60534-8-4 standard
–  Pressure rating or schedule (pipe class) for pipe data

 Demo version

The demo version of the new SAMSON Valve Sizing program has only limited functions that differ from the full program version as follows:

–  The demo program performs calculations with a constant density.
–  You cannot save or open files.
–  You cannot print hard copies.

  System requirements

HARDWARE (minimum):
Pentium I/90 MHz Processor, 16 MB RAM, 30 MB of hard-disk memory fully accessible

Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2K, XP

–  Exit all open applications.
–  Start "SETUP" to install the program.
–  Choose the installation language.

The installation program automatically creates all required directories.

You can also deinstall the program. The supplied deinstaller removes all created directories and all copied files from your PC. Double-click on the Valve Sizing DEMO Deinstallation icon to get the deinstaller started.
